Starting today, Cosplay Gen will weekly present one cosplayer or photographer whom we’d like to promote on our website.
For this week, we chose to feature Tsubaki-chan, an Australian cosplayer already known at local conventions, who also coordinates various panels. For her latest cosplay panel, she chose as theme “Cosplay on any budget – Cosplay for Poor Students & Rich Fortunates”, which will be presented at SMASH!, a convention held in Sydney. Tsubaki-chan has a quite wide range of costumes, such as Caska from Berserk, Sakura from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Kadaj from FF VII Advent Children, and Nene Romanova from Bubblegum Crisis – Tokyo 2040. Yesterday, in Nagoya, Japan’s preliminary round opened the long-awaited World Cosplay Championship. Out of the 15 participating countries, the winners were the group from Italy, which included Luca Buzzi, with a cosplay history of 7 years, and Giancarlo di Pierro, who’s been cosplaying for 4 years. Congratulations! [..]
As some of you may already know, the World Cosplay Summit has started in Japan today. On the first day they have the Cosplay Parade in Osu and on the second day they have the Cosplay Championship at Oasis 21, both in Nagoya. For those of you not able to attend the event, us included here, you can watch it online, live, on Ustream on the Cosplay Summit channel or by checking the embeded stream below. Tomorrow is the Cosplay Championship, we hope they’re going to livestream it too! [..]
This is a cosplay music video based on this Hatsune Miku – Rolling Girl video featuring cosplayer Cvy, whom you might also remember from the pilot issue of our magazine as White Rabbit from the Alice in Steampunkland feature, Kanasaiii, another talented cosplayer from Singapore, and with photos by Adrian Song, who was also featured in our pilot issue. The result is quite impressive and you can really see that they’ve put a lot of work into making it. [..]
Adrian Song, aka Songster69, started learning about photography way back in his school days, when he was shooting in black and white, using his storeroom for processing, only to come to a hiatus when he graduated.
Cosplay Gen team is pleased to announce that the work for the second issue has begun. Thanks everyone for your support and positive feedback, which definitely stimulate us to work harder and provide you with high-quality content. Also, we would like to thank all the cosplayers who sent us submission e-mails; it was a very tough choice to make, for there are great cosplayers from which we had to choose. Due to the fact that we received a lot of messages, we will be able to answer only to those cosplayers whom we selected to be included in the magazine (the e-mails are to be sent throughout the next week). We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you understand. Nevertheless, to all cosplayers out there: go on with your beautiful work. You are all wonderful for keeping your passion alive.
Hey there! We just wanted to let you know that the magazine is out in the world and we have already sent out the pre-orders and started taking orders for the first issue. Just to remind you, we ship anywhere in the world and now our Shop page also has a preview of the magazine.
Please leave us some feedback after you get it!
Hey there, we’re sorry for the recent lack of updates, we’re busy with Otaku Festival 2010 which is taking place next week in Bucharest. We believe that a picture is worth a thousand words and that’s why we think these ones will suffice for our lack of updates for now, we will be posting a full preview the following days. The magazine’s distribution starts as of May 17. [..]
