Lucca Comics and Games (October 29th to November 1st 2010) is an annual comic book and gaming convention in Lucca, Italy. Launched in 1966, the event grew in importance year after year, but it’s only in 2006, for the 40th anniversary, that the fair has been moved to the city center; from that edition, the various pavilions are arranged in different squares of the old town and visitors have access to much wider areas and many more services. Cosplay Gen: What inspires you the most when choosing the characters you cosplay?
Kirisaki: Their (background) stories. It helps one better understand the character. Personality, behaviour wise. It gives inspiration for the kind of portrayal you want to carry off, and the kind of shots you want to have. [..]

Youmacon is Detroit’s first and only anime convention which has been running for 6 years now. Attendees get the chance to meet their favorite anime voice actors, compete for masquerade and cosplay trophies and go through all sorts of interesting activities such as cosplay shougi, scavenger hunt, maid cafe, idol contest etc. [..]
This year at the London MCM Expo, which took place during 29-31 October, participants from eighteen countries displayed their talent and skill at the EuroCosplay final championships. First place went to Leandro from Portugal with his Cain Nightroad from Trinity Blood cosplay; second place was won by Kairi from Poland with her Ashura from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle cosplay and the third place was won by Karen from Britain who dressed up as Rigaldo from Claymore. Cosplay Gen: What keeps you going in cosplay? (friends, the challenge in each costume, experience, attention)
Kyle: My friends are definitely the primary factor that keeps me in cosplay, with the challenge and experience at a close tie for second. I have made and maintained many friendships through conventions that I hope to never loose.

New York Anime Festival and New York Comic Con both took place this year at the Jacob K. Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan on October 8-10. NYAF features exclusive and extensive anime screenings, guests from America and Japan, manga, cosplay, video games, live-action Japanese cinema, fashion, food, and the cultural treasures that gave birth to Japanese pop culture while NYCC has the latest in comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys etc. as well as panels and autograph sessions. NYCC is the second largest pop culture convention in America.
