Lucca Comics and Games (October 29th to November 1st 2010) is an annual comic book and gaming convention in Lucca, Italy. Launched in 1966, the event grew in importance year after year, but it’s only in 2006, for the 40th anniversary, that the fair has been moved to the city center; from that edition, the various pavilions are arranged in different squares of the old town and visitors have access to much wider areas and many more services.
Since 1966, the “City of Comics” has hosted an annual event every November dedicated to strip cartoons. In 1993 the event changed to include illustrations, comics, animation, and games. The Lucca Comics and Games event, as it is now called , was an early adapter of otaku culture such as cosplay, and around 100,000 visitors from around the world gather in an 18.000-square-meter venue in the center of the very beautiful historic town.
