Final countdown for Hyper Japan!0

// February 11, 2012

We hope you are all already prepared for HYPER JAPAN, the exquisite Japan-centered event who takes place in London between February 24 and 26, in which Cosplay Gen is delighted to be a media partner. And if you want to participate in the World Cosplay Summit and European Cosplay Gathering contests, keep in mind you have only one day left to register, so hurry up and book your place in the preliminaries!

Cosplay judges for the Saturday of HYPER JAPAN have also been announced – double World Cosplay Summit champions Mauricio and Mônica Somenzari will join professional prop makers John Bekkensten and Adelaïde Filippe from Bekkhans Studio!

And now a few words about the judeges:

Mauricio And Mônica Somenzari

Hailing from Brazil, Mônica and Mauricio are the only team to have become double WCS Grand Champions – winning first in 2006 with their Angel Sanctuary performance, and again in 2011 as Balthier and Ultima from Final Fantasy XII! Outside of cosplay, Mauricio is a designer for a prestigious Bralizian high fashion brand and Mônica has just graduated from her photography degree. Both cosplayers say they can’t wait to visit London – the “Mecca” of fashion – and meet British cosplayers!

BekkHans Studio

Founded by John Bekkensten (Norway) and Bruce Hansing (UK), BekkHans studio have been providing props, concept art and set design for the movie and entertainment industry for the last 13 years. Founder John Bekkensten will be appearing at HYPER JAPAN together with concept artist Adelaïde Filippe.
In addition to providing concept art for Bekkhan’s projects with Marvel (Iron Man) and Paramount (Transformers), Adelaïde is also a cosplayer of 7 years, and was part of the judging panel for the 2011 European Cosplay Gathering Final and French WCS Preliminary.
